Thankfully, we are not on this adoption journey alone. We have had the support of family and friends from the beginning as we processed this decision. Having gone through the out-of-the-ordinary experience of our triplet pregnancy and birth, we know firsthand what it means to have a support group in place when facing unusual circumstances. We were amazed then at the number of people we had praying for us and supporting us in whatever ways they could. I will never forget some of the small things that happened during that time that carried us through tiring days and nights. A good friend kept me supplied with homemade pimiento cheese (which I love!) to make lunch easier for me each day. That may seem like a small token, but it was HUGE to me!
We also had help from family with items like our 3 car seats, our gigantic stroller, and the ridiculous amount of diapers we went through. Brian and I did not spend a penny on diapers until the girls were 11 months old! A box of diapers here and there literally kept us going for that many months. We are forever grateful for all of the help ... big and small ... that we received, and we were humbled during that time by all of the people willing to make small sacrifices in order to help our family.
We are again in a similar situation of relying on the support of our family and friends as we walk along a new journey. It's different but the same! We knew from the beginning of our triplet pregnancy that God was blessing us with these babies and that they would all be born healthy and strong. (In case you didn't know, they ALL came home from the hospital together with me ... they were ready before I was!) We have known since the beginning of this adventure that God was leading us in this direction, and we are content in knowing what the outcome will be without knowing the specifics of how we are going to get there. We know that our boy(s) will be home. That's all we know for sure. That and the fact that we will have the prayers and support of family and friends along the way.
We have already experienced help from others as we've gotten this far in the process. Once again ... both big and small. For those who've helped in some way and for those praying about a way to help as we continue our journey, our prayer is that there will be a day when you look at our boy(s) and have the opportunity to say as well, "Yes, he is worth it!" Whatever sacrifice you make for us, whether it's your time in prayer, donation to yard sale, buying coffee or mugs, monetary donation, or even pimiento cheese (hint, hint my friend!) we hope you feel a part of our journey as you see him ...
- hanging out with your child in small group at Waumba Land
- eating with his big sisters at Moe's
- shopping with me at the grocery store
- playing the role of Daddy's sidekick on a trip to Lowe's
- running around with his buddies while trick or treating
- chasing our dog in the backyard
- misbehaving while we're out in public (hey, it's gonna happen!)
- chowing down on Granny's yummy cooking at Thanksgiving
- kayaking with Grandpa and chasing fiddler crabs
- swimming at GG's for the first time
- sitting with all of us for a family picture
- celebrating his baptism
Our prayer is that everyone who joins us on this journey will have that specific moment. Whether it's when you meet him or some milestone down the road, you have the chance to say that he was worth whatever sacrifice it was that you made for our family and for him.
